How to play Chimera Chess

Chimera Chess follows normal chess rules, with one extra twist: after a capture, the capturing piece may temporarily gain a movement power from what it captured.

The added power must give the piece something new. For example, a queen can gain knight movement or pawn-only powers like en passant, but it cannot gain ordinary rook or bishop movement because it already moves that way.

A piece can hold only one added power at a time. If it earns another one, the new choice replaces the old one. You may also decline the new power after a capture.

If you capture a piece that is already carrying an added power, you may choose between the captured piece's normal movement type and the added power it was carrying.

To play online, choose Online friend, enter or create a room password, pick your color, and share the password. Both players must click Start clock before the clock begins.

When a move could be made normally or with an added power, the game will ask which method you want. Using an added power spends it immediately.
